Dr Kimberly Memoriam

About Dr. Kimberly
A Life Dedicated to Healing and Service
Dr. Kimberly was a distinguished vascular surgeon whose exceptional skill, compassionate care, and unwavering dedication made her a beloved figure at Southwest General Hospital and throughout the medical community.
Born Kimberly, Dr. Kimberly was raised in Mansfield, OH. She was the third youngest of four children and even at a young age possessed a unique zest for life. She loved soccer and running and engaged in both activities throughout her childhood. She attended St. Peter's High School and then studied Biology at Ohio University in Athens, OH. Kimberly showed a true talent and passion for the biological sciences as she excelled in her degree program.
After undergrad and a year spent doing cancer research, Kimberly then embarked on her medical studies at Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she became Dr. Kimberly Nemeth and then matched into a General Surgery Residency within the Cleveland Clinic System. After five years of training and an intense fellowship program afterwards, Dr. Kim became a board certified vascular surgeon in the greater Cleveland area. She worked at several different hospitals, before settling in at Southwest General for the remaining years of her life.

During her fifteen years of practice, Dr. Kimberly touched the lives of countless people and garnered respect from the surgical community around her. She worked tirelessly to help her patients and sacrificed much of herself for the betterment of those under her care. She was a committed staff member and continually put the wellbeing of others first, as is the hallmark of a true physician. In her personal life, she was married to a loving husband, Michael D'Ambrosio, and had two children, Carmen and Lorenzo, whom she loved more than life itself. She also remained committed to activity and exercise and credited her physical fitness with the ability for her to keep practicing even while the cancer had begun to ravage her body.
In 2023, after several years of battling a resurgent and unexplained stomach pain, Dr. Kim was finally diagnosed with advanced stage peritoneal carcinomatosis. Her entire abdomen was covered in inoperable, cancerous cells that caused significant pain. She went on to valiantly battle the unwinnable disease with chemotherapy and any other measures, despite the immense pain, for more than ten months. During that time, her desire to return to the operating room and to the patients she cared for fueled her heart.
On February 29, 2024, Dr. Kimberly Nemeth D'Ambrosio passed from cancer shortly after her 45th birthday. Though her life was short, the legacy of her impact on the lives of her patients is unparalleled. It is to this end that Dr. Kim's family and friends are looking to advance her name in medicine and continue her life's mission. In this website, you will find a place to write a testimonial to any experiences or memories you may have had with Dr. Kimberly. There is also a link to donate money, in her name, to be used for a memorial and to advance her work in medicine even after death.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Kimberly was a devoted mother and wife who managed to balance the demanding nature of her surgical career with her deep commitment to family. She embodied the belief that healing extends beyond the operating room and into every aspect of how we care for one another.
